New York: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, highlighted the need to convert climate commitments into tangible results during his participation in the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Speaking at the Climate Implementation Bridge (BRIDGE) event, the minister outlined key priorities for effective climate implementation, including a robust policy framework, access to finance, and enhanced project delivery capacity.

According to Press Information Department, the Finance Minister addressed the challenges faced by Pakistan, such as institutional fragmentation and a lack of investable projects, which impede progress. He cited the 2022 floods as an example where international support remained unutilized due to these challenges. The minister emphasized the need for suitable projects and strengthened implementation capacity to leverage international pledges effectively.

Senator Aurangzeb welcomed Pakistan’s involvement in the BRIDGE initiative and encouraged global partners to shift from dialogue to action through practical decisions. He reiterated the importance of transforming climate commitments into concrete projects with measurable outcomes for communities.

The minister’s engagements at the UNGA High-Level Week highlighted Pakistan’s focus on climate resilience, resource mobilization for climate action, and international partnerships to support on-the-ground implementation.
