Finance Minister Leads ECC Meeting on Sugar Export


Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, presided over a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, held at the Finance Division. The meeting focused on a proposal to initiate international tenders for exporting 108,000 metric tons of sugar currently held by the Trading Corporation of Pakistan.



According to Press Information Department, the Ministry of National Food Security and Research presented a summary seeking approval to open international tenders for the sugar export. This stock is part of the 300,000 metric tons imported last year, following recommendations by the Steering Committee on Sugar, which was established with the Cabinet’s approval. The tender process will adhere to the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) Rules 2004.



The session was attended by Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain; Federal Minister for Investment, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh; Advisor to the Prime Minister for Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, alongside federal secretaries and senior officials from relevant ministries and divisions.
