Finance Minister Aurangzeb Engages with Global Investors in Washington

Washington: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb recently participated in a roundtable discussion with institutional investors hosted by Jefferies International. During the event, Aurangzeb provided insights into Pakistan’s macroeconomic outlook and ongoing reform initiatives.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Finance Minister highlighted that Pakistan had successfully reached a Staff-Level Agreement with the International Monetary Fund. This agreement pertains to the third review of the Extended Fund Facility and the second review of the Resilience and Sustainability Facility, following the fulfillment of all quantitative and structural benchmarks.

Aurangzeb also discussed the economic impacts of the Middle East conflict on Pakistan and outlined the government’s policy measures in response. In a separate meeting with Howard Lutnick, Secretary of the US Department of Commerce, Aurangzeb explored ways to strengthen the bilateral economic partnership between the United States and Pakistan. The discussions focused on enhancing trade, encouraging investment flows, and increasing private-sector engagement.

The meeting with Lutnick also covered potential cooperation in critical sectors such as mining, energy, and information technology. Both parties emphasized the importance of unlocking new opportunities for mutually beneficial economic collaboration.
