ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb chaired a virtual meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, where a significant decision was made regarding the country’s food security and wheat import strategy.
According to Radio Pakistan, the ECC reviewed a summary presented by the National Food Security and Research Division. Following deliberations, the committee approved the formation of a Steering Committee, which will be led by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. The primary role of this newly established committee will be to assess needs and develop an operational framework concerning the proposal for wheat import and to address the demands of various provinces.
