Islamabad: Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, met with the United States Chargé d’Affaires to Pakistan, Ms. Natalie Baker, in Islamabad to discuss bilateral economic cooperation. The meeting focused on enhancing trade, investment, and energy cooperation between the two nations, acknowledging the ongoing positive trajectory in their relationship.

According to Press Information Department, discussions included the outcomes of a recent symposium in Washington, D.C., hosted by the Pakistan Caucus in the US Congress. This event gathered policymakers, diaspora representatives, and business leaders to review and explore future opportunities in bilateral ties. The Finance Minister informed Ms. Baker about Pakistan’s efforts to address energy sector challenges and ensure targeted subsidies for vulnerable segments, such as small farmers and public transport users.

The dialogue also covered the implications of rising global oil prices on Pakistan’s economy and the country’s engagement with international financial institutions, including the IMF. Ms. Baker reaffirmed US support for Pakistan’s economic reform agenda and expressed interest in promoting investment in sectors like energy, mining, technology, and logistics. Both officials discussed potential participation in international forums such as the SelectUSA Investment Summit and explored collaboration opportunities in infrastructure development, digital connectivity, and regional trade.
