Islamabad: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has taken on a pivotal role as a peace mediator in the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran, working to revive stalled negotiations between the two nations.
According to Radio Pakistan, Field Marshal Munir recently traveled to Tehran to meet with Iranian leaders, spearheading efforts to build trust and facilitate dialogue between the US and Iran. The Guardian reported that Pakistan has emerged as an unexpected diplomatic bridge, with Munir actively engaging in direct contacts, phone calls, and mediation to foster communication between the two countries.
The Guardian further noted that Field Marshal Munir’s involvement in the negotiations, in conjunction with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent diplomatic visit to Saudi Arabia, signifies a coordinated strategy by Pakistan to play a constructive role in regional peace efforts.
