SKARDU: Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan conducted an emergency inspection at the flood-affected bridge near Sassi Haramosh Ansar Camp on the Skardu-Gilgit Road, assessing the damage from recent flash floods and reviewing ongoing repair efforts.

According to Press Information Department, Minister Abdul Aleem Khan directed operational staff to expedite restoration efforts and deploy additional heavy machinery to address the inconvenience faced by stranded commuters and local residents. “Immediate and effective measures must be taken to minimize public hardship. By the Grace of Almighty Allah, full restoration of the Gilgit-Skardu Road will be achieved very soon,” stated the Minister.

Minister Khan commended the field personnel from the National Highway Authority (NHA) and the Frontier Works Organisation / NWO for their continuous efforts under challenging conditions. Accompanying the Minister were high-level officials, including Chairman NHA, Secretary Communications, Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan, and Commissioner Gilgit.
