Islamabad: A ceremony at the Motorway Police Headquarters Auditorium commemorated Police Martyrs’ Day, with Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan and Inspector General (IG) Motorway Police Sultan Ahmad Chaudhry in attendance. The event included floral tributes and prayers for the fallen officers.

According to Press Information Department, Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized the significance of August 4th in national history and honored the sacrifices of police martyrs, including 59 Motorway Police officers. He announced initiatives to protect patrolling officers, including new police stations and emergency services near toll plazas. Khan reported a doubling of National Highway Authority (NHA) revenue, citing financial independence as a catalyst for expanding Pakistan’s highway network without external aid.

The Minister detailed infrastructure projects across various regions, including the Murree Expressway extension and the MNJC Motorway, enhancing connectivity with China. The Sialkot-Kharian-Rawalpindi Highway will reduce travel time between Islamabad and Lahore. In Karachi, the M-10 and Lyari Expressway facilitate freight movement, and the M-6 motorway work will begin soon. The “Guru Nanak Expressway” aims to boost religious tourism. Projects in Gilgit-Baltistan and Balochistan, including the M-8 motorway, are set to enhance regional connectivity.

IG Motorway Police Sultan Ahmad Chaudhry reiterated support for the martyrs’ families, ensuring their continued recognition and support.
