Federal Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar Meets Meta Delegation to Bolster Digital Safety Initiatives in Islamabad

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Human Rights, Azam Nazeer Tarar, recently met with a delegation from Meta to discuss the progress and impact of their joint digital safety initiatives. The meeting highlighted successful campaigns and upcoming projects aimed at enhancing online safety, particularly for children.

According to Ministry of Human Rights, the Meta delegation presented updates on several key projects, including a digital safety campaign that has achieved over 21 million impressions. They also discussed the capacity building initiatives for the National Commission for Child Rights (NCRC) staff, focusing on child safety policies and collaboration with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s (NCMEC) Cyber Tipline.

Future plans include workshops for parents, teachers, and children designed to educate them about digital safety. Additionally, the launch of the “Take It Down” portal in Urdu was announced, which aims to combat the non-consensual sharing of intimate images of minors.

Minister Tarar expressed appreciation for Meta’s efforts in safeguarding children online, emphasizing the importance of protecting the most vulnerable from digital threats. He underscored the commitment of both the government and Meta to continue working together to enhance child safety and promote digital responsibility among users.
