Islamabad, In the 56th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Pakistan Housing Authority Foundation (PHA-F), Federal Minister for Housing and Works Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada voiced strong opposition to the current reservation of allotment quotas for housing and the purchase of a luxury vehicle by the organization.
According to Press Information Department, the meeting, which also included Dr. Shahzad Khan Bangash, Secretary of Housing and Works, and other senior officials from related ministries, discussed several development projects and strategic proposals to accelerate these initiatives. A significant point of contention raised during the session was the reservation of allotment quotas of plots and flats to employees of the Ministry of Housing and Works and its attached departments. Minister Pirzada criticized this practice, highlighting that PHA-F and the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) should operate on a principle of open merit, reflecting their role as custodians of the federal employees’ funds, rather than allocating quotas that might not align with the service terms of the employees.
Furthermore, Minister Pirzada expressed dissatisfaction with the PHA-F’s decision to purchase a 2400cc luxury vehicle, labeling it as a misuse of the funds contributed by federal employees. The board responded by unanimously deciding that the vehicle should be auctioned off through a transparent process to ensure responsible use of resources.
The minister has directed that these issues be addressed in future board meetings to refine policies and ensure that practices align more closely with the principles of fairness and transparency in government operations.
