Islamabad: Federal Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, Mustafa Kamal, reviewed the final preparations of the nearly completed 200-bed New Emergency Center at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). Kamal was briefed on the center’s progress, medical facilities, and completion stages by hospital administrators.

According to Press Information Department, officials informed the Minister that the emergency facility is in its final operational phase. The Minister urged authorities to complete all cleaning, finishing, and technical work according to the highest standards. Highlighting the increasing patient demand at PIMS, Kamal emphasized the necessity of making the new emergency center operational quickly. He directed officials to expedite the project’s completion and accelerate the PC-4 documentation process to prevent any delays.

The facility will include a 30-bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), a 10-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), two operation theatres, and two minor operation theatres, significantly enhancing the hospital’s emergency care capacity. Kamal stated that the Government is committed to providing high-quality emergency healthcare services, marking the emergency center as a milestone in strengthening Pakistan’s public healthcare system.

Kamal also visited the Pediatric Emergency Center at PIMS, supported by the ChildLife Foundation, to review the services for children. He reaffirmed the Government’s priority on providing safe pediatric healthcare and assured that resources would be utilized to offer the best medical treatment for children. Kamal reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to improving public hospitals’ performance and ensuring better healthcare services for all citizens.
