Mumbai: Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor has revealed that the attacker of her husband, Saif Ali Khan, did not take anything during the violent incident, adding weight to concerns that extremism is spreading into the Indian film industry.
According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the stabbing of Saif Ali Khan is part of a recent surge in violent activities, including the killing of politician Baba Siddique and a shooting incident near Salman Khan’s residence. These events have been linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
The attack on Saif Ali Khan came shortly after Indian poet Kumar Vishwas criticized him for naming his son Taimur. This criticism has raised suspicions about Hindutva-inspired motives behind the attack, possibly involving organized crime elements like the Bishnoi gang.
Observers are cautioning that these incidents highlight a disturbing trend in society, where ideologies fueled by hate and violence against Sikhs and Muslims are gaining traction. Such occurrences signify a breakdown in the rule of law and increasing societal divisions in India.
Kareena Kapoor Khan informed the police that she witnessed the intruder repeatedly stabbing her husband during the attack at their Bandra home early Thursday morning.
“The attacker was aggressive. I saw him attack Saif repeatedly… Our priority was to get him to the hospital,” Kareena reported to the authorities. She also expressed her fear and distress, noting that her sister Karisma took her to a safer location after the incident.
Despite the severity of the attack, Kareena noted that nothing was taken from their home.
“The attacker didn’t steal anything. Saif intervened to protect our younger son, Jehangir, and the attacker was unable to reach him. Saif tried to save the children and women,” she stated.
