Islamabad: The Secretary-General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Dr. Asad Majeed Khan, embarks on a three-day official visit to Pakistan starting today.

Dr. Majeed is set to meet with key figures in Pakistan’s leadership, including the country’s President, Prime Minister, and several federal ministers. These meetings will focus on discussing ECO’s initiatives and Dr. Majeed’s reform agenda, which aims to rejuvenate the organization and enhance its relations with member states, with particular emphasis on expanding regional cooperation and development with Pakistan.

After completing his engagements in Islamabad, Dr. Majeed will proceed to Lahore. There, he will participate in the 294th meeting of the ECO Council of Permanent Representatives. This gathering, which involves permanent representatives from ECO member states, is scheduled to take place from the 12th to the 15th of this month.

Dr. Majeed’s visit comes at a crucial time for the ECO, as the organization seeks to implement reforms and foster stronger ties among its member countries. The outcomes of these discussions and meetings in Pakistan may play a significant role in shaping the future direction of the ECO’s cooperative efforts in the region.
