New York: At a recent meeting at the UN headquarters, Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, Secretary General of the World Kashmir Awareness Forum, urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to champion a just and peaceful resolution to the Kashmir conflict, aligning with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri populace.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Dr. Fai addressed the OIC Contact Group Meeting on Kashmir, expressing gratitude for the OIC’s unwavering support since the 1994 Islamic Summit in Casablanca, Morocco. He criticized recent electoral processes in Jammu and Kashmir, describing them as fraudulent and a violation of both the UN Security Council resolutions and the UN Charter. Dr. Fai underscored the severity of human rights abuses in the region, including the detention of Kashmiri leaders like Yaseen Malik and Shabir Ahmed Shah, and called for the repeal of laws that he claimed were designed to change the demographic makeup of Kashmir.
Fai’s remarks highlighted the ongoing international advocacy for Kashmir and emphasized the need for the release of political prisoners and the abolition of repressive legal frameworks in the region.
