ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has committed to ensuring a secure and supportive environment for the oil and gas exploration and production sector. This assurance was provided during a meeting of the Committee on the Exploration and Production sector held in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, the committee convened to assess the progress of key initiatives in the sector. Discussions at the meeting covered ongoing offshore and onshore exploration activities, challenges facing the industry, and reforms in the gas sector, including the completion of studies aimed at supporting long-term development.
The Deputy Prime Minister received briefings on efforts to address circular debt issues and the optimization of LNG supplies through domestic exploration and production. He emphasized the importance of improving coordination among stakeholders to quickly resolve the sector’s existing challenges. Increasing domestic oil and gas production remains a high priority within the Government’s energy security agenda, Dar noted.
The meeting was attended by the Minister for Petroleum, the Minister for Maritime Affairs, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, senior officials from various ministries, and heads of leading exploration and production companies.
