DG Safe City Reviews Online Taxi Verification Framework in Islamabad


ISLAMABAD: DG Safe City and DIG Traffic Muhammad Haroon Joya convened a meeting to review and enhance the online taxi verification framework in Islamabad, aiming to improve safety and security for users of online ride services. The meeting, held at Safe City Islamabad, included senior officials, representatives from online taxi companies, and drivers.



According to Islamabad Capital Police, the discussions focused on expanding the number of drivers in the verification system and ensuring citizen safety, with a particular focus on women using these services. The initiative involves authenticating drivers and vehicles, ensuring effective monitoring, and prompt response to incidents. Islamabad Police is collaborating with private online taxi providers to enhance public transportation safety.



The system allows for better monitoring of vehicles and drivers booked online, contributing to crime prevention and public safety. The meeting highlighted the protection of personal information and privacy for users. Various suggestions for system improvements were discussed.



Muhammad Haroon Joya emphasized the availability of the online taxi verification app, which can be downloaded from the official Islamabad Police website. Passengers can verify vehicles by scanning a QR code after booking a ride. The police urged citizens to report any unverified vehicles via the ICTP App for legal action, reinforcing the commitment to safeguarding the residents of Islamabad.
