ISLAMABAD: Director General Safe City and Deputy Inspector General of Police Traffic Muhammad Haroon Joya convened a meeting to evaluate traffic and security measures in Islamabad as anticipation grows for the visits of local and foreign delegations.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, the meeting, held at Safe City Islamabad, included participation from all DIGs, SSPs, and SPs, along with senior officials from the Punjab Police. The discussions focused on developing strategies for managing traffic and security in light of current and potential national situations. The review emphasized improving security at the city’s entry and exit points, major highways, sensitive areas, and the Red Zone.
DG Safe City/DIG Traffic instructed the officers to utilize various media channels, including FM radio and social media, to update citizens about the traffic situation and alternative routes. He highlighted the importance of maintaining smooth traffic flow and directed officers to be present in the field around the clock, increase personnel at key locations, and enforce traffic laws strictly.
The meeting also resulted in a special traffic plan to ensure alternative routes, effective control room monitoring, and prompt response. Security arrangements will include comprehensive surveillance using Safe City cameras and bolstered personnel deployment at critical points. Citizens were encouraged to comply with traffic rules and to contact “Pukar-15” or the Traffic Police helpline-1915 for assistance.
