New York: The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, engaged with representatives from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in New York, emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to the Muslim world’s shared goals.
According to a statement by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Senator Dar reinforced Pakistan’s dedication to advocating for peace in Palestine at the United Nations. He called for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, the provision of unhindered humanitarian assistance, and an end to any displacement efforts against the Palestinian people. He confirmed Pakistan’s support for a two-state solution, envisioning a sovereign Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
Senator Dar also expressed Pakistan’s unwavering backing for the Kashmiri people’s struggle, urging the global community to facilitate a peaceful resolution to the Jammu and Kashmir conflict, aligned with UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri populace.
In his address, Senator Dar emphasized the importance of resolving conflicts within the Middle East, Africa, and Asia peacefully, in accordance with the UN Charter. He highlighted the necessity of tackling Islamophobia and advocated for the quick appointment of a UN Special Envoy to address this issue, in line with OIC’s collective strategies.
Senator Dar concluded by affirming Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with OIC member states during its term on the UN Security Council, focusing on issues significant to OIC nations.
