New York: Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar of Pakistan and the Foreign Minister of the Maldives, Iruthisham Adam, met on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York to review and discuss bilateral relations between their countries.

According to Radio Pakistan, both sides expressed satisfaction with the current positive momentum in Pakistan-Maldives relations and emphasized the importance of continuing high-level engagement. They agreed on the need to further enhance cooperation in areas such as trade, connectivity, economic relations, business-to-business linkages, academia, and defense.

The two leaders also highlighted the significance of greater cooperation at multilateral forums, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to working together on issues of mutual interest.

The Maldivian Foreign Minister stressed the importance of strengthening the longstanding relationship between the Maldives and Pakistan, indicating her country’s dedication to maintaining and enhancing these ties.
