ISLAMABAD: Delegations from member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have arrived in Islamabad to participate in the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women. The two-day event is hosted by the Government of Pakistan, focusing on the socio-economic and political empowerment of women in OIC countries.
According to Radio Pakistan, the conference, organized under the Ministry of Human Rights, is themed “Socio-Economic and Political Empowerment of Women in the OIC Countries: Challenges and Way Forward.” Delegations were received at Islamabad International Airport by officials, including Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik and Parliamentary Secretaries Saba Sadiq and Farah Naz Akbar.
The conference will feature ministers responsible for women and family affairs, senior government officials, and representatives from OIC institutions and international organizations. Discussions will center on advancing women’s empowerment across OIC member countries.
During the event, Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar will assume the chair of the conference on behalf of Pakistan. As the chair, Pakistan will lead proceedings to foster dialogue and consensus among OIC member states for collective efforts toward women’s empowerment.
