Dar Reaffirms Pakistan’s Support for United Nations’ Central Role in Global Affairs

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has articulated Pakistan’s commitment to reinforcing multilateralism and emphasizing the United Nations’ central role in global affairs.

According to Radio Pakistan, Dar communicated this stance during a meeting with María Fernanda Espinosa, the former Foreign Minister of Ecuador and a current candidate for the position of United Nations Secretary-General, in Islamabad. During the meeting, Dar expressed optimism that the incoming Secretary-General would implement necessary reforms within the United Nations and ensure the execution of longstanding UN Security Council resolutions, particularly concerning Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir. These resolutions, he asserted, are vital for achieving enduring peace in the Middle East and South Asia.

The Deputy Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to advancing the objectives and principles enshrined in the UN Charter, upholding international law and treaties, and fostering active international cooperation to promote global peace and prosperity.
