Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has instructed officials to expedite the privatization process and further the government’s structural reforms agenda. The initiatives are aimed at enhancing operational efficiency within the governmental framework.
According to Radio Pakistan, Dar chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Privatisation in Islamabad. During the meeting, the committee examined the progress made on the privatization of the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), and Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO). The Privatization Commission was tasked with completing its consultation with the Power Division by early next week.
The committee also evaluated the potential addition of further entities to the privatization program. It approved the Privatization Division’s proposals with some modifications. Furthermore, the committee reviewed and approved the budget of the Privatization Commission after making certain amendments. The session concluded with directives for the Commission to expedite the ongoing privatization processes.
