Islamabad: The Islamabad Police have announced a 20% reduction in crime during the first four months of 2025, attributing the decline to a strategic crackdown on criminal elements under the leadership of Inspector General of Police, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.

Following directives from the IGP, the police have implemented a coordinated approach to combat crime, targeting bandits, robbers, vehicle thieves, and drug dealers. This effort has led to notable decreases in several types of crime compared to the same period in 2024.

Statistics reveal a 19% decrease in robberies, a 12% reduction in theft, and a significant 74% drop in burglaries. Vehicle and motorcycle thefts have fallen by 22%, while murder rates have seen a 17% decrease. Overall, there have been 600 fewer reported incidents in the federal capital.

The police have been conducting daily operations against criminal networks and drug smuggling rings. Special teams are actively pursuing those involved in drug-related activities, following strict orders from the IGP to dismantle these operations.

IGP Rizvi emphasized the importance of protecting citizens’ lives and property, stating that the police are committed to eliminating the threats posed by criminal activities. He called on the public to support law enforcement efforts to create a safer, crime-free society.
