COVID-19 claims 37 more patients, infects 1,217 others

Karachi, August 27, 2021 (PPI-OT): As many as 37 more patients of Coronavirus died overnight lifting the death toll to 6,803 and 1,217 new cases emerged when 18,817 tests were conducted. This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Friday. He added that 37 more patients of COVID-19 lost their lives lifting the death toll to 6,803 that constituted 1.6 percent death rate. Mr. Shah said that 18,817 samples were tested which detected 1,217 cases that constituted 6.5 percent current detection rate.

He added that so far 5,488,770 tests have been conducted against which 428,116 cases were diagnosed, of them 86.8 percent or 371,799 patients have recovered, including 1,528 overnight. The CM said that currently 49,514 patients were under treatment, of them 48,434 were in home isolation, 34 at isolation centres and 1,046 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 928 patients was stated to be critical, including 86 shifted to ventilators.

According to the statement, out of 1,217 new cases, 596 have been detected from Karachi, including 206 from South, 135 East, 96 Central, 60 Korangi, 55 Malir and 44 West. Hyderabad has 146, Badin 42, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar and Tharparkar 34 each, Umerkot 33, Shaheed Benazirabad 30, Matiari 27, Thatta 24, Sukkur and Tando Allahyar 22 each, Jamshoro 19, Sujawal 18, Ghotki 17, Kashmore, Dadu and Tando Muhammad Khan 15 each, Naushero Feroze and Shikarpur 14 each, Jacobabad nine, Khairpur five, Larkana two. Murad Ali Shah urged people to abide by the SOPs issued by the government.
