COVID-19 claims 3 more patients, infects 423 others

Karachi, June 21, 2021 (PPI-OT): As many as 3 more patients of Coronavirus died overnight lifting the death toll to 5,344 and 423 new cases emerged when 11,418 tests were conducted. This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Monday. He added that 3 more patients of COVID-19 lost their lives lifting the death toll to 5,344 that constituted 1.6 percent death rate.

Mr. Shah said that 11,418 samples were tested which detected 423 cases that constituted 3.7 percent current detection rate. He added that so far 4,390,631 tests have been conducted against which 332,660 cases were diagnosed, of them 92.5 percent or 307,780 patients have recovered, including 482 overnight. The CM said that currently 19,536 patients were under treatment, of them 18,915 were in home isolation, 30 at isolation centers and 591 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 540 patients were stated to be critical, including 46 shifted to ventilators.

According to the statement, out of 423 new cases, 195 have been detected from Karachi, including 85 from East, 40 Central, 38 South, 17 Korangi, 8 West and 7 Malir. Hyderabad has 36, Badin and Jacobabad 11 each, Khairpur 5, Jamshoro 3, Nausheroferoze and Sukkur 2 each, Dadu, Sanghar and Ghotki 1 each. The chief minister urged people of the province to follow SOPs.
