Counter-Terrorism Efforts Intensify as Naqvi Leads Key Meeting

Islamabad: The second meeting of the Counter-Terrorism Committee convened under the leadership of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, focusing on enhancing the operational capabilities of Counter-Terrorism Departments across provinces. Attendees included high-level officials from various ministries, security agencies, and provincial representatives.

Minister Naqvi asserted a unified national stance against terrorism, highlighting collaboration between the Prime Minister, Army Chief, and other stakeholders. He assured that provincial consultations would precede all decisions, stressing the importance of activating provincial Counter-Terrorism Departments for an effective response.

The meeting assessed progress on establishing National and Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Centers. Approval has been granted for the national center, with efforts underway to develop provincial centers. The conversion of the Frontier Constabulary into the National Reserve Police was also highlighted as a key development.

Participants agreed to elevate the monitoring of explosive materials to a federal level and to address terrorism concerns with Afghanistan through diplomatic channels. Minister Naqvi emphasized strict adherence to security protocols for foreign nationals, underscoring the importance of coordinated institutional efforts.
