Consulate General of Pakistan in Vancouver Hosts Innovation Networking Event to Boost Canada-Pakistan IT Collaboration


Vancouver: The Consulate General of Pakistan in Vancouver hosted the “Pakistan-Canada Innovation Corridor” networking event in collaboration with the Pakistan-Canada Trade Association on May 14, 2026. The event followed the Web Summit 2026 and was attended by representatives from Pakistani technology companies, Canadian entrepreneurs, the media, and the Pakistani-Canadian business community.



According to Press Information Department, Consul General Shahzad Hussain welcomed participants by highlighting the significance of Pakistan’s participation in Web Summit Vancouver 2026, which gave Pakistani IT companies exposure to the North American market, particularly Canada. He acknowledged the Pakistan Software Export Board for sponsoring the delegation. Altamash Janjua, Trade and Investment Counsellor, briefed attendees on potential collaboration opportunities between Pakistan and Canada in the IT sector. He noted that Pakistan’s IT sector, a key driver for economic growth and export diversification, anticipates total global exports to reach up to US$4.6 billion by 2026.



Participants discussed ideas for strengthening trade, technology, investment, and innovation linkages between Pakistan and Canada. A panel discussion emphasized the potential for collaboration in areas such as AI, FinTech, and other IT-enabled services. The networking event allowed Pakistani companies to explore partnerships and joint ventures, building on their engagements with Canadian and other international firms during the Web Summit 2026.
