COMSATS and ECOSF Forge Partnership to Tackle Climate Change and Enhance ST and I Collaboration

Islamabad: A new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between COMSATS and the Economic Cooperation Organization Science Foundation (ECOSF) at the COMSATS Secretariat, aiming to bolster Science, Technology, and Innovation (ST and I) collaboration to address climate change and other significant challenges facing their member states.

According to Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in The South, the MoU signed on July 2, 2024, focuses on mobilizing academia and research institutions to foster innovation, capacity building, and the sharing of knowledge and technological expertise. The partnership is set to build upon existing activities and commitments to research and development, aiming to leverage joint expertise to tackle emerging research questions and support the sustainable development agenda.

The ceremony saw the attendance of officials from COMSATS and ECOSF, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology, partner organizations like the National Institute of Disaster Management, and the Climate Resourcing Coordination Centre. Diplomats from Kazakhstan, Iran, Turkmenistan, and Syria also participated, highlighting the regional importance of this initiative.
