Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launched the Wheat Initiative Program in Lahore, announcing the distribution of one thousand free tractors to wheat farmers across Punjab.
The initiative, aimed at supporting wheat cultivation, featured a digital draw for the “Gandam Agao” prize scheme. The inaugural tractor was awarded to Kausar Parveen, a female farmer from Bahawalnagar. Chief Minister Maryam personally contacted Parveen to congratulate her on receiving the free tractor.
During a briefing, it was revealed that 57,733 landowners with more than 12.5 acres had applied for the free tractors under the “Gundam Agao” campaign. After verification, 21,496 farmers were deemed eligible for the lottery draw.
The successful 1,000 farmers will each receive a 55-horsepower tractor at no cost. The tractors are scheduled for distribution within three months. This year, wheat cultivation spans 560,000 acres in Punjab.
