LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced on Sunday that drainage projects have significantly improved water management during the monsoon season, with rainwater that previously stagnated for extended periods now being drained within hours.

According to the Chief Minister of Punjab, these remarks were made during a meeting with members of the Punjab Assembly from Vehari, where discussions focused on political affairs, development projects, and public welfare initiatives. She attributed her dedication to public service to her mentor, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, and emphasized the importance of the newly constructed Vehari-Multan Road as a right fulfilled for the people of the area.

The meeting also addressed the benefits being experienced by farmers in south Punjab through the Kisan Card, as well as educational advancements through laptops and Honhaar Scholarships for students. Members of the Punjab Assembly expressed their gratitude to the chief minister for upgrading the old Vehari-Multan Road into a modern dual-carriageway expressway and highlighted the positive feedback from the public regarding this development.

The MPAs described the road’s dualisation as a transformative project and extended their appreciation for the introduction of an electric bus service in Vehari, which provides free travel for students, women, and senior citizens. They noted the significant impact of mega projects worth approximately Rs21 billion initiated in the Burewala, Mailsi, and Vehari tehsils, including the beautification of Vehari Rail Bazaar.

Chief Minister Sharif reiterated her commitment to uniformly developing the province under the Punjab Development Programme and recognized Allah’s grace in facilitating the rapid improvement of water drainage during the monsoon.
