LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has expressed solidarity with brain tumor patients and emphasized the importance of early diagnosis on World Brain Tumor Day.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the Chief Minister paid tribute to healthcare professionals and individuals supporting brain tumor patients. She highlighted the silent yet severe nature of brain tumors and underscored the need for public awareness about the condition.

“Brain tumors present a medical challenge for patients and healthcare providers and an emotional trial for families,” she stated, emphasizing that timely diagnosis and treatment are crucial for ensuring a healthy life. CM Maryam Nawaz noted that public awareness is vital in combating silent diseases and that understanding early diagnosis and treatment options can help control brain tumors and save lives.

She mentioned that Pakistan’s first government-run Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital will offer hope to brain tumor patients by providing free treatment at all stages of the disease. Additionally, the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer and Research Centre is set to become fully operational soon, reinforcing the government’s efforts under the “Healthy Punjab” vision to ensure the availability of treatment for brain tumors and other neurological disorders in public hospitals.

CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz also pointed out ongoing efforts to enhance the capacity of medical professionals to improve care and management for brain tumor patients.
