Islamabad: Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar announced that the Chief Justice of Pakistan would make decisions regarding the transfer of judges. He emphasized that it is incorrect to suggest that judges from other provinces cannot be appointed in the federal judiciary.
In a speech to the Islamabad High Court Bar Association, Tarar asserted that the government should refrain from interfering in bar affairs. He added that he has never sought support from any bar through unofficial means.
Tarar highlighted the desire of Pakistan’s 250 million citizens for decisions to be made based on merit. He stressed the need to address the issue of false registration of First Information Reports (FIRs).
The law minister also pointed out that all political parties recognize the Constitution of 1973. He stated that it is time for laws to be enacted in the public interest.
