Karachi, In a gesture of solidarity and mourning, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz visited the Chinese Consulate in Lahore to extend her condolences following the tragic attack in Shangla, which resulted in the loss of Chinese nationals. During her visit, she met with Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren, along with other officials, to express her profound sorrow and sympathy to the families of the deceased and to the People’s Republic of China.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the Chief Minister conveyed her heartfelt condolences and emphasized the strong bond between Pakistan and China, describing their relationship as an exemplary friendship that cannot be diminished by such cowardly acts. She reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to mutual cooperation and collaboration with China across various sectors, highlighting the incident as a malicious attempt to disrupt the progress and prosperity of both nations.
Chief Minister Nawaz assured the Chinese officials of Pakistan’s unwavering dedication to the safety and security of Chinese nationals working in Punjab, promising the implementation of stringent security measures to prevent any future incidents. Her message underscored the shared grief and resolve of the Pakistani nation in the face of this adversity, echoing the sentiment of unity and shared loss with the affected families.
The Consul General, Zhao Shiren, expressed his gratitude for the Chief Minister’s visit and for the expressions of sympathy and support from the government of Punjab. The meeting was also attended by Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Former Senator Parvez Rashid, the Chief Secretary, the Secretary of Home, the Inspector General of Police, and other relevant officials, signifying the importance of the occasion and the collective mourning of the Pakistani leadership.
