Islamabad: The Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mr. Justice Yahya Afridi, met with a UN Women delegation led by Mr. Mohammad Naciri at the Supreme Court of Pakistan to discuss gender-responsive justice reforms.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting underscored the ongoing partnership between the Supreme Court and UN Women, focusing on improving access to justice for women and vulnerable populations. The Chief Justice outlined the judiciary’s reform agenda, which includes the Gender-Responsive Justice Initiative 2026-27. This initiative involves the establishment of Women Facilitation Centres to provide comprehensive support for female litigants.

The discussions also covered broader judicial reforms aimed at enhancing transparency and efficiency through modernization and technology, including the use of AI in case management. Mr. Naciri expressed UN Women’s support and highlighted the importance of removing barriers that discourage women from seeking legal remedies.

The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to advancing gender-responsive reforms and strengthening the justice system. A souvenir was presented to Mr. Naciri as a token of goodwill.
