Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani Presides Over PIPS Board Meeting, Outlines Landmark Achievements

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, presided over a significant meeting of the Board of Governors of the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) in Islamabad, highlighting the institute’s international recognition and achievements in parliamentary capacity building.

According to Senate of Pakistan, the meeting was attended by prominent figures including Deputy Speaker National Assembly Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Speaker Provincial Assembly of Balochistan Abdul Khaliq Khan, and Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan, among others. Chairman Senate welcomed the participants and acknowledged the inclusion of MNA Sher Ali Arbab as a new member of the Board.

Chairman Senate emphasized PIPS’s milestone of becoming a founding Steering Committee member of the Global Network of Parliamentary Training Institutes and announced that PIPS will host the Second Global Conference of Parliamentary Training Institutes in 2027. He detailed PIPS’s activities since July 2025, including orientations and workshops for parliamentarians, and the production of research papers.

The institute’s engagement with civil society and efforts in conducting specialized training programs for provincial legislatures were also highlighted. Chairman Senate commended the Executive Director PIPS for facilitating advanced professional training opportunities for officers of various assemblies.

The meeting concluded with discussions on agenda items and approval of budget estimates and the annual report for 2024-25.
