Multan: In a significant development for South Punjab, the dualization of the Multan-Lodhran Road has received approval, with funds released to commence construction. The project, championed by Chairman Senate of Pakistan Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, is set to begin within a month.

According to Press Information Department, Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan approved the project at the request of Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani. The initiative will be financed through the Road Maintenance Account (RMA) Fund.

The 62-kilometer project, estimated to cost Rs. 4.6 billion, aims for completion within a year. It includes the elevation of 44.8 kilometers of the existing road to ensure uniformity, enhancing both road safety and travel efficiency. “An important promise made to the people of Multan and Lodhran is now becoming a reality. The reconstruction and dualization of this key highway will provide safer, more efficient, and high-quality travel facilities to the public,” Gilani stated, emphasizing his focus on addressing South Punjab’s issues through sustainable development.

Chairman Senate reiterated his dedication to infrastructure development and enhancing public services in South Punjab to support economic growth and improve quality of life.
