ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani met with a high-level delegation from Shandong Hi-Speed Group Co., Ltd., a major state-owned Chinese infrastructure and investment enterprise, and the Tabani Group to discuss the expansion of economic cooperation between Pakistan and China. The meeting, held at Parliament House, highlighted the enduring strategic partnership between the two nations and the potential for increased investment in multiple sectors.

According to Senate of Pakistan, the delegation was led by Xu Xiang, Chairman of Shandong Hi-Speed Group, and included key representatives such as Wang Zhenrong, Country Director, and Humza Tabani, Chairman of the Tabani Group. Discussions centered on investment opportunities in infrastructure, transportation, energy, and other strategic areas, with a focus on strengthening economic ties.

Chairman Senate Gilani underscored the deep-rooted friendship between Pakistan and China, noting China’s consistent support during challenging times. He praised the role of Chinese investments in fostering economic development, job creation, and sustainable growth in Pakistan. Gilani highlighted the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a critical initiative for regional connectivity and economic integration, expressing optimism about future trade and investment growth.

Gilani also emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to creating a favorable environment for foreign investment and welcomed Chinese enterprises’ interest in contributing to the nation’s development. He mentioned the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) as a key initiative to boost investment and economic stability.

The Chinese delegation shared insights into Shandong Hi-Speed Group’s global operations and expressed their commitment to expanding their investment footprint in Pakistan. The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their dedication to enhancing bilateral cooperation and promoting initiatives that support regional connectivity and economic growth. Advisor to Chairman Senate Misbah Khar was also present during the discussions.
