Chairman Senate Highlights Baisakhi’s Role in Promoting Unity and Religious Freedom

ISLAMABAD: The Chairman of the Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, emphasized the significance of Baisakhi as a celebration that embodies happiness, hope, and brotherhood. In his message, he stressed the occasion’s ability to inspire values such as mutual respect, tolerance, and harmony among diverse communities in Pakistan.

According to Senate of Pakistan, Gilani highlighted Pakistan’s identity as a pluralistic and multicultural society where individuals from all religions are assured the freedom to practice their faiths. He pointed out that the Parliament of Pakistan has enacted legislation to safeguard minority rights, promote religious freedom, protect places of worship, and eliminate discrimination against minority communities.

The Chairman reiterated the commitment of both Parliament and state institutions to protect the dignity and equal rights of minorities across the country. On the occasion of Baisakhi, he affirmed Pakistan’s dedication to enhancing interfaith harmony and fostering unity among all citizens.
