Chairman Senate Extends Easter Greetings, Emphasizes Religious Freedom in Pakistan


Islamabad: Chairman Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, has extended greetings to the Christian community in Pakistan and worldwide on the occasion of Easter, highlighting the celebration as a symbol of hope, renewal, and spiritual reflection.



According to Senate of Pakistan, Gilani’s message underscored Easter’s observance through special prayers and religious gatherings, which he cited as a means to strengthen faith while promoting values such as love, tolerance, and brotherhood. He called on the Christian community to pray for Pakistan’s peace, stability, and prosperity, viewing such occasions as opportunities to enhance interfaith harmony and convey unity and compassion across society.



The Chairman Senate reassured that minorities in Pakistan enjoy complete religious freedom, underscoring that the nation’s constitution guarantees equal rights for all citizens, including minorities. He noted the significant legislative efforts made to protect these rights. Gilani also pointed out the Pakistan Peoples Party’s role in advocating for minority rights and ensuring their representation, with parliamentary committees actively addressing related issues.



In his concluding remarks, Gilani reiterated his Easter greetings, wishing peace, happiness, and well-being to the Christian community globally.
