Chairman FBR Meets GCCI Delegation to Address Business Concerns


Islamabad: A delegation from the Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) met with Rashid Mahmood Langrial, Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), to discuss the challenges confronting the business community in Gujranwala. The GCCI delegation, led by President Muhammad Ali Hamayoun Butt, sought to address issues related to tax refunds and operational challenges affecting businesses.



According to Press Information Department, senior FBR officers, including Member (IR-Operations), Member (IR-Policy), Member (Customs-Policy), and Chief (F&C), were present during the meeting. The GCCI delegation presented a series of concerns at both policy and operational levels. These included matters regarding tax refunds, super tax installments, and other operational difficulties.



Chairman FBR responded by clarifying that tax policy formulation now falls under the Ministry of Finance, with the FBR focusing on implementation and operational aspects of tax administration. He assured the delegation their concerns would be reviewed and addressed promptly. Relevant FBR wings were instructed to examine the issues and provide appropriate responses to alleviate the business community’s difficulties.



The Chairman assured that legitimate refunds would be processed following due procedures. He also emphasized that tax policies would consider the legitimate hardships faced by businesses, while ensuring all legally due taxes are collected in accordance with the law. Additionally, he assured that no FBR official would cause undue difficulties or seek favors from taxpayers, encouraging the business community to report any corrupt practices for strict disciplinary action.



The delegation included Mr. Saad Jamil Isfani, Senior Vice President GCCI; Mr. Faisal Sattar Mughal, Vice President GCCI; Mr. Asfand Yar, Secretary General GCCI; Mr. Mahr Ikram Raza; and Mr. Shawaiz Bin Ahmed.
