Chairman CCP and Chairman NAB Collaborate to Enhance Economic Transparency


Islamabad: Mr. Farid Ahmed Tarar, Chairman of the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP), met with Lt. Gen. (R) Nazir Ahmed, Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), at the NAB Headquarters in Islamabad. The meeting aimed at strengthening cooperation to ensure economic transparency and combat anti-competitive behavior.



According to Press Information Department, the discussion centered on aligning the efforts of both institutions to maintain economic discipline and protect the national exchequer. Mr. Tarar briefed the NAB Chairman on the CCP’s ongoing initiatives to promote fair competition and protect consumers from anti-competitive practices, such as abuse of dominant position and deceptive marketing. He emphasized the importance of a level playing field for sustainable economic growth and investor confidence.



Lt. Gen. (R) Nazir Ahmed acknowledged the CCP’s critical role in market transparency and expressed NAB’s support for its regulatory functions. He highlighted the shared goal of safeguarding economic interests by eliminating illicit market practices. The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing on the importance of open communication to bolster regulatory and accountability frameworks, reinforcing their commitment to a fair and accountable economic environment.
