Islamabad, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has firmly stated that the caretaker government has no intention of postponing the upcoming general elections, as the authority to consider any such requests lies solely with the Election Commission of Pakistan.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the prime minister, during an interview with a private television channel, clarified that the caretaker government’s role does not include influencing the electoral process. He urged political entities to avoid politicizing the issue of terrorism, especially in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and called for a unified approach to address this challenge.
Responding to questions, Kakar emphasized that all political parties, including the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, have equal rights to participate in the electoral process. He also addressed concerns regarding restrictions on public gatherings, stating that there is no policy targeting any specific political party.
On matters of national security and foreign policy, the prime minister indicated the government’s clear stance on concluding the repatriation of illegal foreigners.
Furthermore, Kakar highlighted the successes of his government’s reformative measures. He noted the recovery of approximately 60 billion rupees through an anti-power theft drive, improvements in tax receivables, a crackdown on smuggling, and resolutions to issues related to the Afghan Transit Trade. These measures, he claimed, have positively impacted the country’s economic indicators.
