Islamabad: The Foreign Minister of Canada, Anita Anand, held a meeting with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House to discuss the expansion of bilateral relations and explore new trade opportunities. The meeting, which included high-level officials such as Deputy Prime Minister Sen. Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain, focused on potential collaborations in trade, investment, agriculture, and renewable energy.

According to Press Information Department, the Canadian Foreign Minister expressed her government’s interest in enhancing cooperation in sectors like agriculture, mining, and the auto industry. Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the friendly ties between the two nations and emphasized the importance of strengthening these relations. Both parties acknowledged the role of the Pakistani Canadian community in fostering bilateral connections and agreed to exchange delegations to explore further trade and investment prospects.

The discussions culminated in the signing of a Protocol on Phyto-sanitary regulations, facilitating the import of Canola from Canada to Pakistan. This agreement was signed by Deputy Prime Minister Dar and Foreign Minister Anand, aiming to bolster agricultural trade between the two countries.
