Islamabad: A meeting of the Committee to Monitor Petrol Prices was convened under the leadership of the Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, to evaluate the energy supply situation in Pakistan and assess global oil and gas market developments following the Eid holidays.
According to Press Information Department, the Committee conducted a comprehensive review of the national petroleum supply outlook, examining the availability of crude oil and refined petroleum products across the energy value chain. It was reported that inventories remain stable, supported by secured import arrangements and ongoing production efforts. Supply lines from import terminals to refineries, storage facilities, and retail outlets are functioning smoothly, ensuring a steady supply across the country.
The Committee was briefed on the logistics and maritime operations that facilitate fuel supplies, noting that cargo inflows continue as scheduled and that petrol cargoes for March, and now April, have been secured. Additional shipments are planned to bolster supply reserves further. Refineries are maintaining regular production levels, with ongoing efforts to ensure efficient processing of incoming crude.
A thorough analysis of national stocks and international energy market conditions was presented, highlighting shifts in global benchmarks. The Committee considered emerging global price signals and their potential impacts, noting that the Government is actively evaluating price differences between international and domestic markets to support balanced policy decisions.
Emphasizing operational readiness across the domestic energy chain, the Committee insisted that refineries maintain optimal throughput levels to ensure supply stability. It also reviewed the ongoing government-to-government engagements aimed at strengthening supply resilience and mitigating risks. These efforts include diversified sourcing strategies and logistical arrangements with partner countries to secure crude and refined products, enhance storage and transshipment options, and ensure flexible procurement and financing mechanisms.
Senator Aurangzeb highlighted that proactive planning, diversified procurement strategies, and close coordination among stakeholders have allowed Pakistan to maintain a stable domestic supply position despite global volatility. He urged all relevant authorities to continue vigilant monitoring of international developments, stock levels, and supply chain dynamics to ensure timely and coordinated policy responses.
The meeting underscored that uninterrupted availability of petroleum products remains a top priority for the Government, with sustained coordination and prudent planning guiding efforts to maintain market stability and safeguard national energy security. The meeting included participation from the Federal Minister for Power Mr. Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Mr. Rana Tanveer Hussain (virtually), Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Mr. Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhary (virtually), Minister of State for Finance Mr. Bilal Azhar Kayani, as well as federal secretaries and senior officials from relevant ministries, divisions, and regulatory authorities.
