Islamabad, February 10, 2023 (PPI-OT):Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has emphasized to promote the marine trade, saying blue economy has the potential of trade worth 100 billion dollars. Addressing the maritime conference in connection with the Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference in Karachi today, the Federal Minister said that we need to focus on sea for an export-led economy that would bring the country out of difficult situation.

He said various sectors of blue economy, including fisheries, can earn a huge foreign exchange while Gwadar Port can provide transit to various countries of Central Asia. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister for Maritime Affairs Faisal Sabzwari said that Pakistan can be a huge beneficiary of blue economy due to its vast coastline and a number of marine resources. The Federal Minister said the Ministry of Marine Affairs is ready to work on decontamination of sea water and conservation of marine life and ecosystem.
