Balochistan Unveils Safe City Project in Quetta to Boost Security and Crime Prevention

Quetta: The Balochistan government has officially completed the Quetta Safe City project, an ambitious initiative aimed at enhancing public security and managing crime through advanced surveillance technology. The announcement was made during a visit to the Command and Control Center by Balochistan Interior Minister Mir Ziaullah Longo, alongside other key officials.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the briefing was provided by the Chief Operating Officer of Quetta Safe City, SP Adeel Akbar, who detailed the project’s components including the installation of surveillance cameras and radio frequency radars throughout key points in the city. These tools are designed to monitor the movement of people and vehicles, contributing to improved security and traffic management.

Interior Minister Mir Ziaullah Longo emphasized that the Safe City project was a significant challenge but is now expected to be a critical asset in crime eradication and in safeguarding the residents of the province. He highlighted the dual benefits of the project in public safety and in aiding security forces to combat terrorism more efficiently with the help of modern technology.

IG Police Abdul Khaliq Sheikh added that the surveillance capabilities provided by the project would allow for better monitoring of criminal activities and quicker responses to security incidents. He also noted that the cameras would help address traffic issues by pinpointing causes of congestion, particularly from illegal encroachments.

The project is seen as a historic step forward in utilizing technology to protect life and property in Balochistan, reflecting the government’s commitment to using advanced resources to enhance public safety and quality of life.
