Balochistan to Host 7th Steering Committee Meeting on Rule of Law Roadmap

Quetta, The Government of Balochistan, with the support of the European Union and the UNODC Country Office Pakistan, is set to hold the 7th Provincial Steering Committee Meeting on the Rule of Law Roadmap. Scheduled for Wednesday, 12 June 2024, at the Killa Saifullah Hall, Serena Hotel in Quetta, this pivotal gathering aims to review and drive forward the rule of law reforms in the province.

According to United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the meeting will assess the progress of the ‘Deliver Justice Project’, a key component of Balochistan’s ongoing efforts to enhance its justice sector through the Rule of Law Roadmap. Initially set for a four-year term (2018–2022), the roadmap has been extended until 2026 to deepen the implementation of reforms and institutionalize successful practices and data-driven approaches.

Home Minister Mr. Ziaullah Langau will attend as the Chief Guest, highlighting the high level of commitment from the Balochistan government towards this initiative. Other key participants will include representatives from the Balochistan Police, Prosecution, Prisons, Levies, and Reclamation and Probation Departments, who will report on their respective contributions towards meeting provincial targets outlined in the action plan.

This meeting underscores the regional government’s dedication to strengthening governance through rule of law enhancements, aiming to foster a more transparent, efficient, and accountable justice system in Balochistan.
