Islamabad: In a meeting held today in Islamabad, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb underscored the government’s commitment to maintaining energy security and market stability, even as international energy markets experience heightened volatility. The Committee to Monitor Petrol Prices, chaired by Aurangzeb, discussed the current state of domestic energy supplies, noting that stocks are stable with adequate reserves available across the country.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Committee was informed that diesel reserves provide approximately 24 days of cover, and petrol stocks are at comfortable levels, supported by ongoing imports and refinery operations. The Petroleum Division reported the arrival of one crude oil cargo, with another expected soon at Karachi harbor. Additional shipments are in transit, with further import arrangements for March and April underway to reinforce national reserves.
In anticipation of the upcoming Eid holidays and the ongoing harvesting season, the Committee reviewed supply continuity arrangements. It was assured that Oil Marketing Companies will maintain operational readiness to meet demand, with depots remaining functional in line with commercial requirements, thus avoiding any disruption in fuel availability. Finance Minister Aurangzeb reaffirmed the government’s dedication to ensuring the uninterrupted functioning of the petroleum supply chain amidst evolving external challenges.
