Beijing: Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, attended the opening ceremony of the “Light of Integration: China-Pakistan Contemporary Art Exchange Exhibition” at Tsinghua University. The exhibition features both ancient and contemporary art, underlining the enduring cultural relationship between the two nations.

According to a statement by Press Information Department, the event, hosted by Tsinghua University’s Academy of Arts and Design, offers a twofold exploration of artistic heritage. The ancient segment delves into Gandhara art from both countries through digital means, while the contemporary section showcases over 120 artworks from leading artists in China and Pakistan.

Ambassador Hashmi praised Tsinghua University’s role in fostering cultural exchanges and highlighted contributions from renowned Pakistani artists like Syed Jamal Shah. He described the exhibition as a testament to the long-standing friendship between Pakistan and China, emphasizing cultural, creative, and shared values that transcend political and economic ties.

As Pakistan and China approach the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, the exhibition stands as a celebration of a partnership grounded in mutual respect and trust. The artworks reflect a shared historical connection, notably through the ancient Gandhara civilization and the artistic achievements of the Indus and Yangtze cultures.

The event drew senior leaders from Tsinghua University, diplomats, researchers, and artists from both nations. On the sidelines, Ambassador Hashmi and Mr. Ma Sai, Dean of the Academy of Arts and Design, discussed strengthening cultural and educational collaborations, with both sides agreeing to explore long-term partnerships in art and design.
