Appointment of Masarrat Aalam as APHC Chairman welcomed

Srinagar, September 08, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and organizations have welcomed the appointment of illegally detained senior Hurriyat leader, Masarrat Aalam Butt, as the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference.

Masarrat Aalam Butt, the chief of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League (JKML), was appointed by the APHC as its Chairman during a recent meeting held in Srinagar. The senior Hurriyat leader, who has spent 25 years in Indian jails, is presently lodged in New Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail.

Senior APHC leader and the President of Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman Sharie Shian, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, in a statement issued in Srinagar congratulated Masarrat Aalam Butt on his appointment as the APHC Chairman.

He hoped that Masarrat Aalam will work with dedication and conviction for taking to its logical conclusion the Kashmiris’ ongoing struggle for securing their inalienable right to self-determination promised to them by 1st Indian Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, and guaranteed by the UN through its several resolutions.

The JKML Acting Chairman, Abdul Ahad Parra, in a statement issued in Srinagar maintained that the death of veteran Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Gilani, has created a void in the Kashmir freedom movement and Masarrat Aalam Butt has the potential to fill it.

He said Masarrat Aalam Butt with his steadfastness has proved that he has the ability to take the freedom movement forward in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the freedom-loving Kashmiris. Parra said that the JKML Chief spent most part of his life in the cramped and dark cells of the jail but the illegal detention could not force him to give up his just cause.

The Chairman of Kashmir Freedom Front, Syed Bashir Andrabi, in a congratulatory statement said Masarrat Aalam Butt and other Hurriyat leaders illegally detained in Indian jails have made unparalleled sacrifices for the ongoing Kashmir freedom movement and protection of these sacrifices is the responsibility of every Kashmiri.

He said that the choice of Syed Ali Gilani was also focused on Masarrat Aalam Butt after the death of Shaheed Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in the Caravan-e-Hurriyat. He urged the international community to take cognizance of Indian brutalities in IIOJK and play role in the settlement of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Islamic Political Party, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, in a statement in Srinagar said Masarrat Aalam Butt is a courageous, brave and fully committed person of Kashmiri freedom movement. “He learned a lot from Syed Ali Gilani’s training.

In the current situation, it is timely and correct decision of making a person like him the head of APHC. Inshallah we will succeed in fulfilling the promise made to the martyrs under his leadership,” he said.

The Chairman of the Islami Tanzeem-e-Azadi, Abdul Samad Inqalabi, in a statement said Masarrat Aalam Butt was trained by Syed Ali Gilani and the worst Indian atrocities have failed to subdue his resolve for freedom. He hoped that the new APHC Chairman would lead the ongoing freedom movement with full vigor and live up to the expectations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu and Kashmir Employees Movement Chairman, Muhammad Shafi Lone, and Vice Chairman, Imtiaz Wani, in a joint statement, said Masarrat Aalam Butt has stood firm against the tyranny and oppression of India and his services and sacrifices for the ongoing freedom movement are unforgettable.

They said that India had illegally detained Masarrat Alam Butt for a long time and despite Indian atrocities, his spirit for freedom had not diminished. They hoped that the new Chairman of APHC would fight the Indian occupation with full vigor and lead the liberation struggle to its success.
